To try and remedy that situation, each day, while the kids are getting ready for school, I grab my coffee and search the web for job listings.  I have a variety of sites I visit to learn about DC area library jobs.  There are some positions  that actually seem like a great fit.  I’ve applied to a few so far and as a result, have learned that it takes a really long time to hear back from organizations with open librarian positions. Hmph….so in the meantime, I am learning about the new tools available for social networking (with educational applications)on the web.  I have found that commoncraft.com is one of the best tutorial sites I’ve webbed upon.  Michael Stephens has a website titled:  tametheweb.com which is great and Steve Abrams, curret prez of SLA has an informative blog called Stephens Lighthouse.  There is so much going on with the information field right now–it is hard to keep up, but these websites make me feel like I have a little bit of a clue.

In other news, I just got a text from my oldest daughter that says “both your daughters made the honor roll!” That was a great piece of news to read and start the day off…considering I was fuming prior to dropping them off because my oldest couldn’t find her stockings and held everyone else up…alls well that ends well I guess.  I am now going to read about the comic generator…so stay tuned for my next riveting post to show you what I’ve learned.
